Ezekiel 25:17

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know i am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Why shouldn`t party leaders always disagree?

It''s not an easy thing to say, but it needs to be said. Firstly, i'm not saying party leaders should constently paralyze parlement such as was done this spring, although sometimes, it absolutly must be done by our opposing MP's, who need to do it for two reasons. One of these reasons is because it displays a strong opposition to the current party in power therefore not allowing the government to just breeze through laws and bills without support and approval from a greater group of our elected MP's, secondly the other reason which is also tied into the first reason actually, is because we need some MP's to vote what their constituants want them to vote and not just what their party leader wants them to vote. A near perfect example of this was displayed this week, when the bloc québecois voted to amend the marriage act in the house of commons, which the bloc did, because their constituants in their ridings, for the most part wanted this bill to pass.

Now this issues a great challenge to all politicians in Ottawa, to not just vote with their party, but to vote for the people, it also issues an even greater challenge to the population of canada as a whole, or mostly Ontarions. They need to stop voting liberal because of the fear of stephen harper's conservatives or because of anxiety over the inexperienced NDP. Now the author understands that this is something that requires much courage and devotion to change, yes it is scary, that can never be denied, but it must be done, because when a government runs as a dictatorship of liberal MP's, it's no longer democratic, and it discourages real challange in the federal government, real opposition so that our elected MP' can vote freely and no obliged to their leader's whim, because that would again be..as you guessed...a dicta..right you got it!

Is there an Election Fever?

Thursday in the house of commons, our elected MP's voted on the proposed budget by the liberal government and it narrowly passed 153 to 152 with the speaker of the house breaking the tie.
How is it that this can be declared a victory (or a defeat for that matter), when half our country supports something and the other half is against it? To myself aswell as some other canadians, we would consider this a deadlocked or unresolved issue. How can it be that a government stays in power when half of the country wants it out of office? Let it be known, i am not here to praise the conservative party of canada or any other party for that matter. I want this blog to be as unbiased as possible, but it's very hard to accept a confidence vote that survives by one vote, not to mention the storm of controversy surrouding the recent change of heart by Miss Belinda Stronach. It's even harder after the very government in power has been accused of fraud and theft!

Another related issue is the statement made that "canadians don't want another election right now". In my opinion, this is absolutly ridiculous. It's like a judge saying " yes i know the defendant has been accused of all these crimes and we must judge him, but i don't feel like doing it now, so let's just leave him in custody until i feel like trying him." Now if someone heard a judge really speak like that, they would probably be outraged, and rightly so. So in the best interest of out country, it shouldn't be any different.

I, myself would vote tomorrow should an election be held, even if it would conflict with my schedule and disrupt my plans for the day. Why? Because it is my duty as a Canadian citizen and my country deserves my participation in our democracy. An election should not be seen as a chore or a futile act. It is the power given to the people and we should be grateful to have it, for many people around the world don't have a democratic government and most choices are made for them regardless of if they support them or not. So next election, while you're hoping for your desired outcome, remember that you had the freedom of choice today which is one of the greatest, noblest freedoms we should, i repeat, should be grateful that we still have.

Playing politics: Episode 2

Having seen National Treasure yesterday(which btw was pretty good.), it's no wonder why colonial americans wanted independance from the british. The americans felt they were being taken advantage of by the british monarchy (regardless of whether they really were or not) they took it upon themselves to do something about it and fought back, although they fought an actual war, we in these times could fight a political war (which would be easier legally) and fight our own corruption on the steps of the house of commons. Our goal should not be to oust the liberals from office to replace them with the conservatives, but to oust all corrupt political parties (including the liberals) from the house of commons, as to be able to have a real government representing the people, not the the rich friends of jean chretien and pauly boy, but the rich friends of all who take money under the table out of the hands of needing families who really need it, families who live with public transportation, work minimum wage jobs, live in sub-standard housing and  above all else, pay their taxes and don't try and cheat the government out of money like the liberals did. They are the ones who should be justly outraged. We need to implement preventitive measures in place to ensure that these peoples well-being is insured and that their money is not taken from their pockets to give a Liberal MP a 5-course meal at "Le Papillon"(just an example). I am outraged myself, with good cause. I pay my taxes with the legal promise that it will benifit my country in some way, and i repeat, ...benifit my country, not a friend of the liberal party! If it wasw up to me, i would seize all the assets that both paul martin and jean chretien have, until the truth is discovered and we can be certain that they were not involved, and if they were, to get back every cent that is owed to the canadian people, that would  be the justice that would make the rest of the world admire in silent awe. But at the very least we can always be glad that we are not, a country that lies to the rest of the world in a vain attempt to control world politics before controlling their own....cough...the us...cough.

Playing politics...

Ohh this is just great, i get to write about Paul Martin and the liberals, yay. But i don't really have that much to say about them, see i'm not a liberal and i never voted for one, So i don't know their policies and history. However i do know that the sponsorship scandal took place during Jean Chetien's rule as Prime Minister and not Paul Martin, now this is not to say that Paul Martin is innocent, but Jean Chretien should be the front man taking most of the blame and most of the punishment. Let's not forget, it's Jean Chretien the tyrant who fired Paul Martin after balancing the budget. Now don't get me wrong, i'm not here to preach partisan politics, but rather to say that if the liberals are not the saints some liberals see them as, then maybe it's time for a government that isn't corrupt, if it's not the conservatives then maybe it's the NDP, and if it isn't them, maybe it's the Green Party or maybe we need a new political party, the moral of this all is that we need to have other options besides just liberals and consevatives, and it's not by saying, liberals for the most part are honest, or conservatives for the most part are hard working, demand better, doesn't mean vote conservative, it means vote for someone who will represent you and not sell out to the highest bidders.
